or conversely why people praise 4 so hard.1.

I have no idea why people hate it so much. Has funny running jokes instead of the cringe-worthy "SARDINES!" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Gave us a visual representation for our party instead of having to pick through an overly long listĥ. Gave us Raspberyl, Salvatore, and Champloo, nuff saidĤ. Greatly expanded throwing and lifting mechanicsģ. Originally posted by HawlSera:Disgaea 3 is the best in the series for so many reasonĢ.

which are slightly more complicated than "I like to talk about fish a lot!" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the characters are much better and the more jokey moments feel more natural as they're tired to the character's quirks. is why it isn't as fondly remembered as 1. because not only was Val completely absent for the D3 updated re-release in favor of Desco and ♥♥♥♥♥ (who are AWESOME!), but the Tyrant Val from the DLC mentions finding Present Day Val annoying and regrets he'll "Become such an idiot"Ģ played things seriously as well, which. It seems as though the staff kind of agreed how much of an annoying ♥♥♥♥ Val is. I found myself giving up on 4 early on because honestly I found Valvatorez to be completely insufferable, and watched my brother play through the latter chapters and DLCs. it felt like they realized the story was too serious and heavy-handed so they needed some "funny" word to be said over and over as a glowing "Laugh Now Please!" sign

The series works best when it's not trying to take itself seriously.įor this reason I like 1 and 3's stories better than 2 and 4's (haven't played 5, can't comment on it)Ĥ, imo, is a major weak point for the series as it tries to play the story far too seriously, with the "Sardines!" gimmick being forced and more annoying than amusing. If anything I like D3's story because I feel at the heart, Disgaea is a spoof, while compelling and emotionally driven stories are certainly nothing it's a stranger to. The story is very silly but so is D1s for the most part. I do think some people underestimate the cost of them having gone PS3 exclusive relatively early on given that consoles price. I liked D3 myself (and D4 is mostly a refinement mechanics wise so it's weird to have a strong preference mechanics wise), it's not like 2->3 or 4->D2/5 where the mechanics are majorly different.
